Dubai has announced the approval of a groundbreaking 65km suspended transport system that will link major neighborhoods, including Umm Suqeim Street, Al Khor, and Zabeel. The "Suspended Transport Systems Project" is part of Dubai's ambitious smart mobility goals to increase autonomous or driverless public transport journeys to 25 percent by 2030. The Dubai Media Office confirmed that the system would be integrated with other transportation modes, offering residents and visitors a more sustainable, efficient way to navigate the city. The suspended rail system, first displayed as a concept by the Roads and Transport Authority (RTA), will feature elevated tracks designed to reduce traffic congestion and improve urban mobility. The transport system involves an elevated railway with 21 stations, linking key destinations such as Business Bay, Downtown Dubai, and Dubai International Financial Centre (DIFC). It is expected to carry around 20,000 passengers per hour, with each pod capable of traveling at speeds up to 150km/hr. While no official date has been set for its launch, this innovative project underscores Dubai's commitment to adopting smart city technologies that prioritize environmental sustainability and enhance residents' quality of life.
