A Dubai Criminal Court has sentenced an Arab man to life imprisonment after convicting him of trafficking and abusing narcotic drugs and psychotropic substances. According to court records, the arrest stemmed from a tip-off received by the General Department of Anti-Narcotics in April, indicating that the defendant possessed marijuana and planned to sell it to an undercover officer for Dh100. Police secured a warrant from the Public Prosecution and staged a sting operation. The defendant was arrested while handing over 61 grams of herbal material — later confirmed to be marijuana — to a police agent. Investigators also searched his apartment in Al Satwa, where two other men were found but later cleared of involvement. The court acquitted both after determining they had no knowledge of the defendant’s illegal activities. During interrogation, the defendant admitted to using multiple types of narcotics but denied trafficking.
