Dubai Police have arrested a driver and seized his minibus after he was caught illegally transporting gas cylinders in a dangerously modified vehicle in the Al Quoz Industrial Area. According to Brigadier Jumaa Bin Suwaidan, Acting Director of the General Department of Traffic, the driver has been referred to the public prosecution for legal action. “Any collision, leakage, or unsafe storage could have resulted in catastrophic fires or explosions,” Bin Suwaidan warned, adding that the vehicle’s seats had been removed to carry an excessive number of gas cylinders. Police said the violation was uncovered during a routine traffic inspection campaign. Officers immediately impounded the minibus, citing the risks posed to both the driver and other road users. Bin Suwaidan reiterated that Dubai Police maintain strict surveillance of the roads to detect and apprehend violators. He urged the public to comply with traffic laws and avoid transporting hazardous materials without authorization. He also encouraged residents to report reckless or suspicious activity through the “We Are All Police” hotline 901 or the Dubai Police smart app. “Public awareness and cooperation are vital for road safety,” he stressed.
