Dubai authorities have arrested 10 street vendors for illegally selling food products in public areas, in violation of UAE health and safety laws. The arrests are part of the Dubai Police "Fight Begging" campaign launched during Ramadan. Colonel Ahmed Al Adidi, Deputy Director of the Suspects and Criminal Phenomena Department, emphasized that unauthorized street vending poses serious health risks and violates established regulations. "These operations are part of our commitment to public safety. We urge residents not to purchase from unlicensed vendors and to report any suspicious activities," Al Adidi said. Lieutenant Colonel Talib Al Amiri, Head of the Street Vendors Control Section, warned that unregulated food products may be improperly stored, leading to contamination and serious health hazards. Under UAE Federal Law, individuals caught selling unsafe, adulterated, or illegal food could face penalties ranging from Dh100,000 to Dh2 million in fines, imprisonment of up to two years and deportation for expatriate violators.
