Immediate ban on e-scooters begins in Dubai Metro, Dubai Tram

The ban on e-scooters at Dubai Metro and trams came into force on Friday (March 1), according to the Roads and Transport Authority (RTA). The RTA cited safety as the reason for banning e-scooters inside trains and trams. The RTA, however, said that e-scooters will still be allowed across the footbridge as long as it is folded. In a tweet, the RTA said: “To ensure your safety and that of others, the use of e-scooters inside Dubai Metro and Dubai Tram will be prohibited, starting Friday, March 1." In a separate announcement, the RTA said that it will begin a trial of a robot that will monitor violations of e-scooters and bicycles across Dubai. Previously, Dubai Metro users were allowed to carry their e-scooters inside Metro stations. Earlier this year, an e-scooter that billowed out smoke caused long delays at Onpassive Metro Station.
