The most expensive Dubai car number plate for December sold for Dh6.3 million as the Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) broke its auction revenue record. According to the RTA, its 117th open auction for exclusive vehicle number plates amassed an impressive Dh81.178 million in total proceeds on December 28 at InterContinental Dubai Festival City Hotel, marking a historic achievement in RTA's long-running series of auctions. Leading the auction highlights was the sale of the coveted plate "BB55," which fetched a staggering Dh6.3 million. Other notable bids included "AA21," sold for Dh6.16 million, "BB100" at Dh5 million, and "BB11111," which went for Dh4.21 million. These premium plates drew significant interest from collectors and enthusiasts alike. A total of 90 plates spanning two, three, four, and five digits were offered during the auction, featuring codes such as AA, BB, K, O, T, U, V, W, X, Y, and Z. This variety provided bidders with an opportunity to acquire unique numbers, further driving competition and revenue. This year has seen an increased appetite for high-value number plates. In October, plate number "AA17" was sold at an RTA auction for Dh8.02 million The revenue from these auctions supports RTA's ongoing initiatives to enhance Dubai's transport infrastructure and services.
