The body of 26-year-old Anniemol Gilda, an Indian expat who was murdered in her shared apartment in Karama, has been repatriated to her hometown in Kerala, India. Her remains were flown from Sharjah to Thiruvananthapuram on Thursday night (May 15), with the repatriation coordinated by Yab Legal Services and the INCAS Youth Wing, Dubai Chapter. Gilda, who worked in Dubai as a credit card marketing executive, was found stabbed to death in her apartment on May 4. According to representatives of Yab Legal Services and INCAS, the 28-year-old suspect — her boyfriend — was arrested by Dubai Police at Dubai International Airport on the same day as he attempted to flee the country. Both the victim and the accused are from Kerala, India. The suspect, who is employed at a private hospital in Abu Dhabi, was reportedly a frequent visitor to Gilda’s residence. The two reportedly had a heated argument before the suspect locked her inside a room and fatally stabbed her. Friends later found Gilda critically injured and called authorities, but the suspect had already fled the scene. Dubai Police were able to arrest him at the airport shortly after. The Indian community in Dubai has expressed deep sorrow over the tragic incident, with many rallying in support for her grieving family.
