Dubai’s Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) has approved a major infrastructure project to build an eight-lane bridge spanning Dubai Creek. The bridge will connect Bur Dubai with Dubai Islands via the Infinity Bridge and Port Rashid Development Area. Awarded at a cost of Dh786 million, the 1,425-meter-long bridge will support up to 16,000 vehicles per hour in both directions. Rising 18.5 meters above water, it will offer a 75-meter-wide navigational channel for marine traffic. The project includes a dedicated pedestrian and cycling track, complete with elevators to assist non-motorized traffic. “This project is part of the Al Shindagha Corridor Development and aims to enhance traffic flow and connectivity between major Dubai developments,” said Mattar Al Tayer, RTA Director General. The project will also involve the construction of 2,000 meters of surface roads to connect the bridge with existing infrastructure on both ends.
