Dubai car number plate P7 sells for Dh55 million at auction

Dubai car number plate P7 set a new world record after it was sold in auction for Dh55 million on Saturday night (April 8). The Most Noble Numbers auction was held at the Four Seasons Resort Dubai at Jumeirah Beach. Sale for P7 broke the previous record set in Abu Dhabi in 2008 when car number plate 1 sold for Dh52.5 million. Bids for P7 started at Dh15 million, and rose to more than double within just seconds of bidding. The winning bidder wished to remain anonymous. Proceeds for the auction will go in support to the 1 Billion Meals campaign launched by Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai. Other expensive number plates in the UAE include Dubai AA9, which sold for Dh38 million in 2021, and Dubai AA8, which sold for Dh35 million in 2022. ICA/Expat Media
