Dubai collected Dh249 million in parking fines last year, with 1.67 million fines issued, according to Parkin, the emirate’s official parking operator. The surge in fines came as Parkin expanded its enforcement fleet of smart inspection scan cars, allowing for automated monitoring of on-street and off-street parking violations. Parkin reported that in the last three months of 2024, it issued 509,000 fines, marking a 60 percent increase from the same period in 2023. The total revenue from fines in Q4 2024 reached Dh77 million, up from Dh44.8 million the previous year. Parkin credited its fleet of 25 AI-powered smart scan cars for enhancing enforcement, scanning 6.9 million license plates in Q4 2024—a 53 percent increase compared to the same period in 2023. In April 2025, Dubai will introduce variable parking tariffs for peak and off-peak hours: • Premium parking: Dh6 per hour (8am to 10am, 4pm to 8pm) • Standard parking: Dh4 per hour • Dynamic pricing: Dh25 per hour in high-traffic areas during major events Parkin advised motorists to use public transport during concerts, exhibitions, and festivals to avoid high parking fees.
