Dubai company apologises after customer with allergy finds unwanted item in salad

DUBAI – A company in Dubai has apologized after a woman who is allergic to nuts bought a salad that she was shocked to find almonds in, an ingredient not listed in the label. Appetite, which supplied the salad to a supermarket in Dubai, has apologized and said its popular Broccoli Boost salad no longer contains almonds. Manar Al Jayouchi, managing partner of Appetite, said it was a “case of human error”. “We are very disappointed and frustrated that something like this missed our various check points," Al Jayouchi said. The issue came to light after the customer pointed it out on social media, claiming that the error in the label could lead to serious health problems for people with allergies to nuts. Appetite said it has changed its salad recipe to ensure that only listed ingredients are used.
