Dubai construction worker wins Dh1 million

  DUBAI – An Indian construction worker earning Dh1,800 per month in Dubai became a millionaire overnight after he won a raffle draw on Wednesday (August 24). Nanhaku Yadav, 36, from Uttar Pradesh in India, received a ceremonial cheque for Dh1 million from UAE-based foreign exchange company Al Ansari Exchange at an event held at Dusit Thani Dubai. Yadav was the third person to win Al Ansari’s million-dirham draw. Yadav’s ticket was one of thousands of entries that covered the floor of a room in the hotel. As luck would have it, it was Yadav’s ticket that got picked up by representatives from the Abu Dhabi Economic Department during the draw. With the windfall, it is no longer impossible for Yadav to fulfill his dream of owning a business in Uttar Pradesh. Yadav left his wife and three children in India in 2012 to work in Dubai. He has lived a frugal life here, spending only Dh500 of his monthly salary and sending the rest to his family in India.
