The Dubai Criminal Court has acquitted a man in a fraud case involving fake dollars. It was discovered that the Asian complainant had mistaken the defendant for another person who defrauded him of Dh3,500. The case unfolded after the Asian man was lured by a Facebook post on money exchange, and handed Dh3,500 to an Arab man in exchange for $5,000 that later turned out to be fake. The Asian victim then took matters into his own hands and tracked down the suspect after pretending to be another client to exchange Dh90,000 for $50,000. At their meeting place, he nabbed what he thought was the suspect and handed the man over to the police. The case was referred to the public prosecution for trial. However, investigations revealed that the Asian man had told police that the person who defrauded him was a tall, young man, while the man being prosecuted was short. With the evidence presented to court, the judge acquitted the defendant of any wrongdoing. ICA/Expat Media
