A former employee of a Dubai-based shisha service company has been ordered by the Dubai Civil Court to repay Dh1.034 million in embezzled funds and an additional Dh100,000 in compensation for damages. The woman, who worked as both sales manager and cashier at one of the company’s branches, was found guilty of misappropriating cash collected from daily sales between 2020 and 2024. The discrepancies came to light when the branch manager noticed unrecorded transactions and missing receipts. An internal investigation led to a full audit of the branch’s sales, revealing systematic theft. The employee admitted to embezzling funds during questioning. The company filed a complaint with the Public Prosecution, which referred the case to the Dubai Criminal Court. A final civil ruling was issued, ordering the employee to repay the stolen amount and damages for material and moral losses. ICA/Expat Media
