A Dubai court has ordered a patient and his son to jointly pay Dh392,632 to a private hospital after the man underwent extensive treatment for heart problems and the son failed to honor a written pledge to cover the medical expenses. Court documents showed that the patient was admitted to a private room and received continuous examinations and treatment until discharge. The hospital filed a lawsuit after multiple attempts to recover the unpaid bill, presenting detailed invoices and medical records as evidence. The son, who had signed a written guarantee to pay the hospital, initially attended hearings and requested additional time to respond but later stopped appearing. Neither he nor his father submitted proof of payment or any objections to the charges. The court ruled that contracts are legally binding and held both father and son liable for the unpaid bill. It reasoned that the father had clearly benefited from medical services, while the son had committed in writing to cover the costs.
