Dubai’s Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) has impounded 77 delivery motorcycles and electric bikes as well as issued over 1,200 fines for violations of safety standards. Saeed Al Ramsi, Director of Licensing Activities Monitoring at RTA's Licensing Agency, said the recent crackdown involved 11,000 inspections of delivery drivers, vehicles, and facilities. The inspections targeted delivery hotspots like Hessa Street, Za’abeel Street, and Downtown Dubai. Violations ranged from unsafe driving to the use of unfit motorcycles and a lack of protective gear such as helmets, gloves, reflective vests and elbow and knee guards. Some riders were caught driving delivery motorcycles without professional training certification. Other delivery riders were flagged for reckless or dangerous driving, or driving motorcycles that did not meet approved technical standards. ICA/Expat Media
