54kg of marijuana seized by Dubai Customs. DUBAI CUSTOMS

Dubai Customs uncovered a highly organized marijuana smuggling technique and successfully busted an operation that had been ongoing for some time, the authority revealed on Sunday (September 15). The discovered illegal substance was concealed in compressed, vacuum-sealed plastic bags—a technique the gang used to block the marijuana's odour and reduce its size for easier transport. The smugglers then hid these vacuum-sealed bundles within cardboard and plastic food boxes from popular brands, a technique intended to avoid detection by blending in with regular consumer items. The investigation stopped 13 smuggling attempts and seized a total of 54 kilograms of marijuana. Officials uncovered the operation through a series of carefully planned inspections, revealing a smuggling method that travellers from a specific Asian country had been using for a long time. Even with the sophisticated nature of the crime, Dubai Customs was able to uncover the smuggling attempts by using advanced detection technology and thorough inspection techniques. The UAE maintains a zero-tolerance policy towards drugs. Possessing any illegal substance, such as marijuana, cocaine, heroin, or synthetic drugs, can lead to severe penalties, including imprisonment or deportation. FLE/Expat Media
