Dubai Police have seized a vehicle and launched legal proceedings against a motorist caught performing dangerous driving stunts in Oud Al Muteena. Authorities said the driver was recorded engaging in reckless manoeuvres, including tyre screeching and deliberately increasing engine noise levels, putting lives at risk and disturbing residents. Brigadier Essam Ibrahim Al Awar, Deputy Director of the General Department of Traffic, said patrol officers identified and stopped the vehicle following reports of unsafe driving behaviour. The driver later admitted to the violations after being summoned for questioning. The vehicle has been impounded while legal action proceeds. Brig. Al Awar said such conduct poses a serious danger to road users and negatively affects surrounding communities. He said the excessive noise caused by modified vehicles and stunt driving creates anxiety and disruption, particularly for children, elderly residents and patients. “This behaviour undermines public peace and does not reflect Dubai’s civilised image,” he said. He stressed that public roads are not spaces for reckless experiments or stunt displays. Dubai Police warned that offenders could face strict penalties under Dubai traffic laws, including release fines of up to Dh50,000 for impounded vehicles involved in serious traffic offences. The force said enforcement patrols and smart surveillance systems will continue to monitor key roads and residential areas. Motorists were urged to report dangerous driving through the Dubai Police app’s Police Eye feature or the We Are All Police hotline on 901.
