At the Most Noble Number auction in Dubai. RTA

The Dubai number plate DD5 was sold for a staggering Dh35 million at the Most Noble Number auction, making it one of the most expensive plates ever auctioned in the UAE. Held at the Armani Dubai Hotel in Burj Khalifa, the auction saw fierce bidding, with real estate tycoon Muhammad BinGhatti, chairman of Binghatti Holding, securing the prized plate. “This is the legend, this is the man,” the event host announced as the final bid was confirmed. Among the youngest bidders was 13-year-old Abdulkader Walid Asaad, who attempted to win DD5 but instead secured another number plate, DD24, for Dh6.3 million. In total, the auction raised Dh83.7 million, with proceeds directed towards the Fathers’ Endowment campaign launched by Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice-President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai. The initiative aims to establish a sustainable endowment fund for medical treatment and healthcare for the underprivileged.
