Dubai Police has unveiled cutting-edge AI-powered radars capable of detecting six major traffic violations, marking a significant milestone in traffic management and road safety. Developed by KTC International, these radars aim to address issues such as distracted driving, illegal window tinting, and excessive noise. The system’s AI algorithms analyze real-time footage, ensuring accurate violation detection and immediate reporting to authorities. A new addition to the system is its ability to detect excessive vehicle noise. After a four-month trial, this feature is now operational, targeting modified vehicles that exceed permissible noise levels. Videos captured are automatically sent to authorities for review, streamlining enforcement processes. The radars employ AI to analyze real-time footage, ensuring precise detection even in low-light conditions. During initial trials, the radars captured unusual behaviors, including a driver using two phones simultaneously and another reading a newspaper behind the wheel, according to Dubai Police. "The radar records excessive noise and documents violations with precision," said Eyad Al Barkawi of KTC International. “It can even distinguish clothing from seat belts, ensuring accurate enforcement.” Other capabilities include monitoring swerving, improper lane discipline, and distracted driving. Pedestrian safety also receives priority, with radars monitoring driver compliance at crossings. Their deployment in residential and commercial zones has already led to noticeable improvements in driver behavior. These radars are not just stationary.
