Dubai Villa Thief to Be Deported

A man who broke into a villa in Dubai in a foiled theft attempt will be deported from Dubai in September, according to Dubai Police. He is now serving a jail sentence of one month for attempted theft and trespassing. According to Dubai Police, the man, whose identity was not revealed, targeted the villa of an Arab woman. He broke into the villa to steal cash and other valuables but was not able to find any. He was later tracked down and arrested, following which he admitted to his crime. In April, Dubai Police arrested a 4-member gang of Latino men responsible for a spate of villa burglaries in the emirate. The gang stole cash, jewellery and watches worth over Dh2 million and targeted villas when the owners were out of the country for holiday. They were arrested as they tried to rob a man trying to withdraw cash from an ATM. ICA/Expat Media
