A man in Dubai has been fined Dh10,000 by a Dubai court and handed multiple penalties after crashing his car into a beauty centre while driving under the influence of drugs. The Dubai Court of Misdemeanours and Violations also suspended his driving license for three months and banned him from conducting banking transactions for two years without approval from UAE authorities. The incident took place in February in Al Qusais, where the man’s car smashed into the beauty centre and collided with five other parked vehicles. A Dubai Police officer who responded to the crash reported that the driver appeared impaired, stammering and unsteady, though no smell of alcohol was detected. Forensic tests later confirmed the presence of methamphetamine, amphetamine, and pregabalin in his system. During investigations, the man admitted to taking drugs and acknowledged failing to leave sufficient distance while driving. His negligence led to the collision, causing property damage and endangering public safety. The court ruled that his drug-impaired driving directly caused the accident, stressing Dubai’s strict stance against narcotics and reckless driving. ICA/Expat Media
