A driver and a foreman in Dubai have been fined Dh5,000 for causing the death of their co-worker in the Al Ruwayyah area. The Dubai Misdemeanor Court found the two guilty of criminal negligence. According to records, the incident happened last January when a worker fell from the top of an electric generator that was aboard a truck. He landed on his head, causing serious injuries that led to his death. During interrogation, the truck driver admitted that he moved the truck without making sure that his co-worker was safe. The foreman, during interrogation, said he was not at the work site at the time of the accident but admitted that safety measures were not followed, which caused the deadly accident. Investigation revealed that the victim was holding lifting ropes and was swinging to get down from the electric generator when he fell to his death. The court ruled that lack of safe work procedures and the absence of supervision contributed to the deadly accident. ICA/Expat Media
