The Dubai Misdemeanour Court fined a 31-year-old Asian woman Dhs3,000 for assaulting a taxi driver after he dropped her off at her destination. The woman also tried to escape without paying the fare. The assault resulted in scratches and bruises on the eye of the driver, which made him unable to work for no more than 20 days. The incident occurred in September 2022 when a taxi driver reported being assaulted by a woman after dropping her off at her destination. According to the victim's complaint, the woman got into a cab in Dubai's JBR district and asked for a ride to International City. As soon as she arrived at the destination, she tried to escape without paying the fare. The victim said he tried to talk to her, but she was drunk, so she slashed his face with her nails and tried to flee. The driver stopped her again, but she slapped him in the eyes and face. The victim immediately reported the incident to the police. According to the case file, the suspect denied assaulting the driver and claimed that she was under the effect of alcohol at the time of the assault and could not remember anything. BKM/ Expat Media
