Thanks to Dubai Police, an Egyptian traveler has recovered a lost suitcase containing $7,000 following a luggage mix-up at Dubai International Airport. The incident occurred when traveler Mounir Said Ibrahim mistakenly took a suitcase belonging to a female passenger upon his arrival in Dubai. It was only when he reached his next departure gate that he realized the error. Distressed and facing a tight schedule with only an hour before his flight to China, Ibrahim rushed to the Dubai Police airport office, fearing that he would lose his money, passport, and other vital documents. Brigadier Hamouda Belsuwaida Al Amri, Director of the General Department of Airport Security, confirmed that officers acted immediately upon receiving the report. “Our team reviewed surveillance footage and retraced the passenger’s steps to locate the missing luggage as quickly as possible,” he said. Officers coordinated with Emirates Airline, which had flown Ibrahim from Cairo, to identify passengers on the same flight. Investigators soon pinpointed the female traveler who had unknowingly taken the wrong suitcase. The woman was still inside the airport waiting for relatives when officers approached her. She was unaware of the mix-up and was cooperative when informed about the situation. Within 30 minutes, Ibrahim was reunited with his lost belongings and was able to board his flight without delay. The female traveler also received her correct luggage. Expressing his gratitude, Ibrahim praised the efficiency of Dubai Police. “I can’t believe how fast they resolved this. I thought I had lost everything,” he said. Brigadier Al Amri emphasized that Dubai Police are committed to ensuring a safe and seamless experience for all travelers. “Our airport security teams are trained to handle such situations swiftly, ensuring that Dubai remains one of the safest and most efficient airports in the world.” Authorities also reminded passengers to carefully check their luggage before leaving the baggage claim area to avoid similar incidents.
