Dubai government employees will begin their Eid Al Fitr holiday on Thursday (March 19), according to a circular issued by the Dubai Government Human Resources Department. The announcement states that work in government entities, departments and institutions in Dubai will be suspended for the Eid holiday until Sunday (March 22). Official working hours will resume on Monday (March 23). The holiday applies to all government bodies across the emirate, allowing employees several days to celebrate the end of the Islamic holy month of Ramadan with family and friends. In a related move, Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Crown Prince of Dubai, Deputy Prime Minister, Minister of Defence and Chairman of The Executive Council of Dubai, directed the early disbursement of March salaries for Dubai government employees. Under the directive, the Department of Finance will release salaries on March 17. Officials said the decision aims to help employees prepare for Eid celebrations and support family spending during the festive period. Eid Al Fitr marks the end of Ramadan, the month of fasting observed by Muslims worldwide. The holiday is typically celebrated with family gatherings, festive meals, charitable giving and community events. The exact start of Eid Al Fitr depends on the official sighting of the crescent moon, which determines the beginning of the Islamic month of Shawwal.
