Residents in Dubai will soon be able to renew their visas online within minutes, thanks to a new AI-powered platform designed to streamline government services. The "Salama" platform, overseen by the General Directorate of Residency and Foreigners Affairs (GDRFA), will automatically recognize user details, display visa statuses for dependents, and highlight expiration dates, authorities announced. Using advanced artificial intelligence, the system aims to eliminate lengthy paperwork and reduce waiting times. The platform will allow users to renew visas, cancel dependent visas, and access various visa-related inquiries with real-time processing. The initiative is part of Dubai’s broader digital transformation efforts. “We believe that digital transformation is not merely an upgrade of services, but a redefinition of user experience,” said Maj Gen Mohamed Ahmed Al Marri, director general of the GDRFA. Authorities have not yet disclosed when the service will go live, but they confirmed that residents will still need to undergo medical screening before completing the renewal process. ICA/Expat Media
