Dubai’s public parking fees in event zones will increase to Dh25 per hour starting February 17 as part of a new Variable Parking Fee policy aimed at regulating high-traffic areas. Public parking operator Parkin announced the revised tariff, which will be implemented in key event areas across the emirate. One such location is the Dubai World Trade Centre (DWTC), which has been designated as a "Grand Event Zone" due to the high volume of visitors during major events. The Dh25 per hour rate marks a significant increase from the current standard parking fees. Parkin officials said the adjustment aims to improve traffic flow and availability of parking spaces in event-heavy areas. “The new variable fee will help manage parking demand during events and ensure better access for visitors,” a Parkin representative said. The fee increase follows the recent implementation of higher parking tariffs across Zone F areas, which came into effect on February 1. Zone F includes prominent districts such as Al Sufouh 2, Knowledge Village, Dubai Media City, and Dubai Internet City. The new Zone F tariffs now range from Dh3 to Dh10 per hour, depending on location and time of day. Parkin explained that the revised structure aligns with the city's growth and the increasing demand for public parking in commercial and residential areas. Dubai's Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) has been actively working on parking management solutions to ease congestion, particularly in event zones. Smart parking meters and mobile payment options are among the measures introduced to improve convenience. Residents and event-goers have expressed mixed reactions to the announcement. Some believe the higher fee will free up parking spaces, while others are concerned about the financial impact. “I often visit DWTC for exhibitions, and the new fee is steep,” Ahmad R., a Dubai resident, told Expat Media. “But I understand the need to manage parking during big events.” Parkin advised drivers to plan ahead, use alternative transport options like the Metro, or carpool during major events to avoid the higher costs.
