RTA staff pay a visit to the Ugandan woman and her newborn. RTA

A Ugandan woman unexpectedly gave birth on an intercity bus headed for Ajman, the Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) confirmed on Thursday (June 8). The authority said that it was a natural birth and that the woman and the baby were safely transported to the hospital. The RTA also confirmed that the woman and her baby are “in good health”. The mother and the newborn were later visited by a team from RTA, including its three female bus drivers. The 41-year-old Egyptian driver of the double-decker bus told Khaleej Times that he rushed to help after hearing screams from passengers on the upper deck. It was then that he saw the woman in latent stage of labour. He called for emergency assistance right away and stayed by the woman's side until medics arrived. ICA/Expat Media
