Dubai expat loses BMW to bounced Dh82,000 cheque issued by used car showroom in Al Aweer

  DUBAI – An Indian expatriate was cheated of his BMW after the used car showroom where he sold his car closed shop without warning. The expat, a 26-year-old sales executive, said the Dh82,000 cheque issued by BoYue Automobile Trading for his MBW 523i bounced, leaving him with a big debt and no car. “Police told me the owner of BoYue is already behind bars for several other bounced cheques. I am not sure how and when will I ever get back my car. BoYue’s Shaikh Zayed store has remained shut now for over a month. Who would have thought they would pull shutters overnight,” the expat told Xpress. The transaction, he said, was done at Al Aweer Used Car Market where the sales manager and his two assistance offered him Dh82,000 for his BMW. Since he had a car loan, the car showroom manager insisted that he clear the bank mortgage first. He had to borrow money to pay off his bank loan. “I was told to transfer my car under BoYue’s name against a cheque for Dh82,000 dated the next day. The following morning, I presented the cheque at the bank, but was told that the person who had signed it was not an authorised signatory,” he said. He reportedly made several trips to BoYue to demand for payment, but was told each time that they would issue a new cheque in three to four days. “It was the same reply I got every time I went there until one fine day they just shut shop and vanished. Today I have no clue if and when I will ever get my money back.
