Expatriates in Dubai recently held a volleyball tournament, uniting the community in support of the Philippines’ Bicol region, recently impacted by Typhoon Kristine. The event, held at Jumeirah Baccalaureate School on November 2, marked the second edition of “Spike for a Cause,” bringing together volleyball enthusiasts for a day of friendly competition and solidarity. Participants expressed their enthusiasm for the event, noting that it was not just about playing volleyball but also about showing support for friends and families affected by recent disasters. “This is our way of standing by our loved ones and showing our resilience as a community,” one player shared. Organized by a group of Dubai-based volleyball players, the event featured multiple teams who donated their time, demonstrating the spirit of unity. This year’s gathering followed the success of last year’s event, which also aimed to support communities in need. Organizers plan to make “Spike for a Cause” an annual event, aiming to expand its reach and raise awareness for various causes while offering the community a chance to come together. ICA/Expat Media
