Expo bureau says local, foreign contractors can join bidding
DUBAI – The Dubai World Expo 2020 bureau is seeking bidders for Dh11 billion (US$3 billion) worth of building contracts that form part of third and final infrastructure phase of the expo venue.
The bureau said local and foreign contractors can bid for the 47 contracts.
The global trade fair, which will open in October 2020, will be the first to be held in the Middle East and the International Monetary Fund (IMF) projects that it will accelerate growth in Dubai by five percent.
After the 47 building projects are bidded out, another 98 contracts will be up for bidding.
In a press statement, Reem Al Hashimy, UAE minister of state for international cooperation and director general of the Dubai Expo 2020 bureau, said: "we are committed to working with leading businesses from across the world in order to deliver an exceptional event of this scale, on time and on budget."
Dubai is putting its best foot forward as it will construct the world's largest airport close to the expo site, which will also become the headquarters of Emirates airline by the year 2025. The airport is expected to be finished by 2019.
