A financial manager stole Dh11,097,000 from a large-scale commercial organization in Dubai after seizing staff wages and stealing nearly Dh8 million from a safe before fleeing to his homeland. In absentia, the Dubai Misdemeanour Court sentenced him to three years in prison and ordered his deportation after serving his term. The case began in May 2022, when an agent from the commercial institution inquired about the reason for the arrest of a financial manager and the seizure of millions of dirhams from a safe for which he was responsible. According to the reporter's statement, one of the owners of the institution received a letter, and some documents, which later turned out to be fake, stating that the police had raided the company, and the money estimated at Dh7.7 million was seized from the safe which was under the financial manager's supervision and then he was removed administratively. The agent of the institution's owners continued that the police started investigating the report and the claim of the financial manager. It was found that what the latter mentioned was incorrect according to the investigations conducted in the institution. The surveillance cameras were also reviewed and showed that the suspect entered the company, opened the safe, and stole Dh7.7 million. Internal investigations and audits of the company's records revealed that the suspect took $3,200,000 from employees' salaries after providing fake bank receipts indicating the transfer of their wages. Investigations also revealed that the manager transferred four months' pay amounting to Dh143,000 to his account in just 40 days. According to the case file, the suspect used his authority, having the key to the safe, and embezzled the money, taking advantage of the lack of supervision and fleeing to his home country.
