Dubai flights: Airline's new check-in system reduces waiting times

Dubai-based Emirates airline is implementing 25 mobile Check-in Ports at Dubai International Airport Terminal 3 to assist cut down on queues and shorten waiting times for passengers during peak hours. These mobile units will be placed throughout Terminal 3's check-in halls. Agents at the Check-in Ports will assist clients in checking in, weighing and tagging their bags, as well as providing boarding permits. Porters will place luggage on a special belt for each passenger's flight once it has been tagged. Each Check-in Port is equipped with a scale for weighing luggage, and Emirates employees will be on hand to help travellers and answer any questions they may have. The service is available to passengers checking in two or fewer bags in Economy, Business, or First Class. "Our latest Check-in Portals are a step in this direction and we are also working on other initiatives that rely on technology and artificial intelligence, to be introduced in the near future in different areas," said Adel Al Redha, Emirates’ Chief Operating Officer. For a more seamless and frictionless airport experience, the airline has also launched various technology-driven services at DXB, such as self-check-in and bag drop kiosks. KMB/Expat Media
