Three Pakistan nationals have been sentenced to one year in prison each for posing as CID officers to rob a Dubai gold trading company of Dh322,000. The Dubai Criminal Court, in its recent ruling, acquitted a fourth suspect due to lack of evidence. The court heard that during the March 2024 incident, the men ambushed employees at a Naif district office, stealing cash, smartphones and surveillance footage before fleeing. Police investigations led to their arrest, recovering Dh34,305 of the stolen money. During interrogation, the suspects confessed to their roles but denied the charges in court. They were convicted of theft, unlawful entry, and impersonation, and fined Dh290,795 collectively. They will be deported after serving their term. Authorities continue to warn businesses to verify law enforcement credentials before compliance. ICA/Expat Media
