A gang of six men is now on trial at the Dubai Criminal Court on allegations of stealing Dh220,000 worth of energy drinks from a warehouse in the industrial region. The members of Asian ethnicity stole the boxes and drove them to another warehouse in a massive vehicle, intending to sell them to a buyer for Dh30,000. The defendants admitted during interrogation at the public prosecution, according to Yaqoub Yousef Al Hammadi, Head of the Deira Prosecution, that they had agreed to split the sale profits amongst themselves to collect Dh5,000 apiece. Investigations revealed that the first and second accused consented to take the boxes after receiving a Dh30,000 offer from an unknown buyer. The men allegedly arrived at the crime scene and broke the window of a vehicle parked in front of the warehouse door, moving it away so their car could enter. They broke the locks on the door and entered shortly after, where they loaded 1,497 cartons of soft drinks, including various energy drinks, and transported them to another emirate. They returned to Dubai the next day and arrived at another warehouse to hand the drinks to the customer. Police quickly apprehended the six men.
