The new bus shelters in Dubai. RTA
The Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) has unveiled 141 newly constructed bus shelters, advancing its ambitious plan to complete 762 shelters across Dubai by the end of 2025. Designed to enhance public transport, these shelters cater to over 182 million riders annually. Mattar Al Tayer, Director General and Chairman of the RTA, emphasized the importance of the project. “Our goal is to improve the quality of life for residents and visitors by offering premium mobility solutions,” he said. Strategically located in densely populated and vital areas, the shelters include features like shaded seating, air conditioning, and accessibility options for People of Determination. “We carefully considered operational needs and future demands to ensure maximum impact,” Al Tayer added. The shelters are classified into four types, based on daily usage, ensuring tailored solutions for each area. Riders also benefit from digital information screens displaying schedules, maps, and other essential updates.
