Behind every expat and Overseas Filipino Worker (OFW) is a story shaped by sacrifice, quiet resilience and small victories that often go unnoticed. The Gintong Ani Awards 2026 in Dubai is changing that narrative, placing everyday heroes firmly in the spotlight. Organisers have recently revealed more than 40 awardees as of Saturday (January 10). The announcement follows the official launch of the Gintong Ani Awards: Limitless Tribute 2026, which began on January 3 (Saturday) during a press conference at Aspin Commercial Tower along Sheikh Zayed Road. Presented by Ark Middle East in partnership with Rose ‘N Butterfly Events Co., the initiative honours individuals whose impact is measured not by titles or fame, but by the lives they touch. Community leaders, entrepreneurs, creatives and advocates gathered for the launch, united by a shared purpose: recognising modern-day heroes whose contributions often happen quietly, behind the scenes. Among this year’s honourees is Liberty Samonte Galang, who will receive the Cultural and Community Leadership Award. Liberty is the owner of Sharjah-based Filipino restaurant Naderang, a culinary landmark that has become more than just a dining destination. Beyond business, she is widely recognised for her leadership in various community causes across the UAE, consistently championing cultural pride and grassroots initiatives. Also honoured is her husband, Chef Michael Angelo Galang, the head chef at Naderang, who will receive the Culinary Excellence and Leadership Award. Known for blending authentic Filipino flavours with a strong sense of purpose, Chef Michael’s work reflects how food can serve as both cultural storytelling and community building. Another awardee is Dubai-based pageant queen Jenny Casa Dy, who is set to receive the Green Leadership and Community Impact Award. Beyond the pageant stage, Jenny is an active advocate for sustainability and a leader in various women’s groups in the UAE, using her platform to promote environmental awareness, empowerment and social responsibility. This year’s theme, “Limitless Tribute,” speaks to a belief that greatness knows no boundaries, not of nationality, profession or circumstance. “The theme honours individuals whose dedication and resilience go beyond limits,” the organisers said. “It reminds us that everyone has the power to uplift others and make a meaningful difference.” Among those present at the launch were businessmen Syed Ali and Mohammad Ashay, entertainment personality Glen Jacob, representatives from Mrs. Philippines UAE, the Honorary Woman of UAE, members of the Filipino Social Club, business leaders, and one of this year’s award recipients from the Netherlands, Mariia Nemchinova. At the heart of the Gintong Ani Awards is founder Rammie Garcia, whose vision is rooted in recognising people for their impact rather than their résumés. Supporting him are award-winning filmmaker and influencer Albert Santos Gayo, and Jossel Villoso, CEO and founder of Hiraya Manawari Business Consultancy. More than a formal awards programme, the Gintong Ani Awards has grown into a deeply personal community gathering. For many OFWs, recognition is not about trophies or applause, but about finally being seen by family, peers and the wider community. The celebration reaches its peak on January 17 (Saturday), when the grand awarding ceremony takes place at Seven Seas Hotel Al Nahda, Dubai, starting at 6:30pm.
