Dubai Police has arrested an Asian suspect in a hit-and-run case as he was trying to flee the country in less than three hours after the incident, the authority said. Dubai Police said that the 24-year-old motorist hit a 27-year-old Asian pedestrian trying to cross the road. The suspect then tried to leave the country after fleeing from the scene. The incident happened on Sunday in the Al Quoz Industrial Area. Colonel Abdel Moneim Abdel Rahman Muhammed, Acting Director of Bur Dubai Police Station, said police were able to track down the suspect’s vehicle, which was found abandoned. “The suspect was placed on the wanted list and apprehended in less than three hours while attempting to flee outside the country,” Moneim said. The police official said that the driver faces two criminal offences punishable by law: failing to give way to a pedestrian and fleeing an accident site.
