Dubai’s Roads and Transport Authority has honoured a bus driver for an act of kindness after he stopped to help a visually impaired man safely cross a busy road. Naeem Abbas Muhammad received a certificate of appreciation during a special ceremony where he was recognised by Mattar Al Tayer, Director General and Chairman of the Board of Executive Directors of the RTA. The driver was seen in a video assisting the man at the roadside, gently guiding him across traffic and remaining by his side until he reached safety. “I saw a man trying to cross the road and he was blind… I helped him,” Muhammad said. The video, shared by the RTA, captured the moment without fanfare, highlighting a simple yet meaningful act of compassion. Despite the recognition, Muhammad said helping others comes naturally. “I like to help people,” he said. “Helping is the way. Helping is Dubai culture.” The RTA said such actions reflect the values it aims to promote across its workforce and the wider community. In 2025, more than 2,000 taxi drivers were also honoured by the authority under its “Road Ambassadors” initiative. A total of 2,172 drivers were recognised for maintaining high standards of service, complying with regulations, ensuring cleanliness, and returning lost items to passengers. Officials said the initiative highlights the role of transport workers in enhancing customer experience and promoting positive behaviour on the roads. CAM/Expat Media
