Dubai hosted the fifth edition of the Women in Tech Global Awards at the Museum of the Future under the patronage and presence of Sheikha Mozah bint Marwan Al Maktoum, First Lieutenant Pilot at Dubai Police. The ceremony, hosted by Women in Tech, a global non-profit organization dedicated to closing the gender gap and building a solid network of women worldwide, honored eight winners for their outstanding contributions to the tech industry. The event, the final leg of the organization's awards series, drew over 200 guests worldwide. Sheikha Mozah welcomed the guests and thanked Women in Tech for its outstanding efforts to empower women through technology and for launching initiatives that increase their equal opportunities to participate and excel in the tech field. Sheikha Mozah emphasized the importance of continuing to empower women across various fields, particularly in the tech industry, in her opening address. She also discussed how technology has expanded women's opportunities and enabled them to achieve their goals while making a positive difference in their communities. She emphasized the importance of communities adopting new technologies and providing women with accessible training in areas such as artificial intelligence, machine learning, and blockchain to broaden their scope of participation in the field. "The UAE has instituted laws and a legal framework that provide women with equal opportunities to contribute to the comprehensive development of the nation. The UAE leadership's commitment to empowering women has enabled them to assume leading positions in all areas," she said. Sheikha Mozah presented the "Aspiring Teen Award" to Nitasha Pillay, a South African student at the University of Kwa-Zulu Natal majoring in Marketing and Information Systems Technology and Networks. Ayumi Moore Aoki, Founder and CEO of the Women in Tech Global Movement stated that the Women in Tech Awards are held annually as part of the organization's commitment to closing the gender gap in technology. "The Awards recognise talented and innovative women who are truly transforming the technology sector," she noted. Aoki expressed her most profound appreciation to Sheikha Mozah bint Marwan Al Maktoum for her generous patronage of the Women in Tech Global Awards and for announcing her full support as patron of the "Aspiring Teen Award" in its next edition. The global event recognized women's outstanding achievements in eight different categories.
