Dubai: Hotel security guard jailed after stealing $50,000 watch from guest

An Asian hotel security guard stole a $50,000 watch from a Canadian guest. The Dubai Criminal Court convicted him, sentenced him to three months in prison, and deported him after he served his term. According to the investigative report, the event occurred in May 2022, when the suspect took advantage of the drunk guest and stole his diamond-encrusted watch. The victim discovered that he had misplaced his $50,000 watch the next day and stated that two guards assisted him in getting to his hotel room. He immediately alerted the hotel management of the occurrence. During his testimony in the investigations, the hotel security director stated that he checked the surveillance cameras and saw the security guard when he helped the victim to his room, took advantage of the watch that fell in the corridor leading to the room, and stole it, so he reported the incident to the police. The security guard was arrested after the cops discovered the watch in his room. During the investigation, the accused admitted that he stole the watch because he needed money. BKM/ Expat Media
