A Dubai-based social enterprise, Incluzun, has launched a pioneering initiative to recognize the champions of inclusive education across the UAE. With a prize money of Dh15,000, the awards aim to celebrate the best head of inclusion and the best learning support assistant in the nation, focusing on those who have made a significant impact in creating inclusive learning environments. The awards, open to all educational institutions in the UAE, are designed to highlight the critical role inclusive practitioners play in helping students overcome learning barriers. "These people change the lives of our children by helping them gain access to education. Many parents struggle to find schools willing to accept their children, but inclusive practices can change that," said Dr. Catherine O’Farrell, a founding partner of Incluzun. Nominees must be full-time professionals in their third year of practice and be recommended by colleagues, administrators, or parents within the special education field. The winners will be selected based on the impact and innovation demonstrated in fostering inclusive education aligned with the National Policy to Empower People of Determination. The awards ceremony will take place on October 8 at the Dubai World Trade Center during the Accessibilities Expo. The event, supported by the Zayed Higher Organisation for People of Determination, will include not only cash prizes but also hotel stays and flight tickets. The organization emphasized the importance of private and non-profit sectors in promoting sustainable development and social welfare. The nomination process is open until September 27 via the Incluzun website, allowing educational professionals and institutions to recognize and reward the unsung heroes of inclusive education.
