Dubai has rolled out a new initiative granting government employees a 10-day paid marriage leave as part of the Sheikha Hind Bint Maktoum Family Programme. The announcement was recently made by Sheikha Hind Bint Maktoum Bin Juma Al Maktoum, wife of Sheikh Mohammed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum. The program, developed in collaboration with Dubai’s Human Resources Department, also introduces a remote work option on Fridays for mothers in their first year after maternity leave. "This initiative reflects our commitment to creating stable, value-driven families who contribute positively to society," Sheikha Hind said in a statement. "Strong families are essential for a brighter future." The family program also offers housing support, financial literacy training, and reduced premiums on housing loans under the Dubai Weddings initiative. The initiative aims to ease financial pressures on newlyweds while fostering Emirati family stability. One notable aspect of the program is its emphasis on financial and social awareness. For instance, the "Start It Right" marital awareness program has already benefited over 1,000 participants, offering skills for relationship management and conflict resolution. The initiative aligns with Dubai Social Agenda 33, which seeks to double the number of Emirati families in the emirate by 2033. The Dubai Weddings initiative, launched in 2024, has already facilitated 344 weddings, reducing financial burdens and contributing to a 10 percent rise in Emirati marriages. Eligible citizens can register for the Dubai Weddings programme through the "Emirati" platform on the Dubai Now app, or by contacting the Community Development Authority through 8002121 or its website.
