From February 2025, Dubai motorists will face Dh25 per hour parking fees in designated event areas under the Roads and Transport Authority’s (RTA) Congestion Pricing Policy. The system called Congestion Pricing will initially be implemented near the Dubai World Trade Centre during major events, with plans to expand coverage to other event hubs. This initiative aims to encourage the use of public transportation and reduce traffic congestion in high-demand zones. A similar measure was introduced last December 31, 2023 where a dynamic fare was introduced for taxis from 6pm until January 1, 2024. This saw the minimum fare increased to Dh20 instead of Dh12 at locations of main events such as World Trade Centre, Expo City, and the Global Village. According to the RTA, the dynamic fare would also apply when a taxi is hailed from locations where New Year’s Eve fireworks were being held.
