An Arab woman has been jailed in Dubai for using someone else’s passport to travel to Switzerland via the Dubai International Airport. The Dubai Court of Misdemeanour sentenced her to three months in jail, followed by deportation for passport fraud. The Dubai Court of Appeal upheld the verdict. The woman was arrested at Dubai International Airport in October last year after a passport control officer suspected her of fraud. She wanted to travel to Europe after arriving in the UAE on visit visa. Investigation revealed that the woman used a French passport that belonged to someone who looked like her. The seals on the passport were also fake. During interrogation, the woman said she bought the passport from a person in an Arab country for $400 and that she was not aware it was fake.
