Dubai jails employee who forged manager’s signature to withdraw Dh940,000 from bank

An Asian employee has been jailed in Dubai for forging his manager’s signature to withdraw Dh940,000 from the company bank account. The case has reached the Court of Appeal, which upheld an earlier verdict by the Dubai Criminal Court sentencing the man to one year in jail, a fine of Dh940,000, and deportation. The case unfolded after the manager discovered that the Asian employee made two bank withdrawals worth Dh940,000 without his knowledge. When he checked with the bank, he learned that his signature was forged on cheques that the employee stole from his office. The employee had left on vacation to his home country after stealing the money. He was arrested upon his return to the UAE. ICA/Expat Media
