The Dubai Criminal Court has sentenced an Asian man to jail for stabbing his roommate in their staff accommodation in the Al Qouz Industrial Area. The court sentenced the worker to six months in jail, followed by deportation, and also fined him Dh2,000. According to records, the crime happened in July last year when the man stabbed his roommate twice with a knife as the latter went out of the room. The victim sustained stab wounds in the abdomen and chest and was transported to the hospital. Police said the assailant was drunk at the time of the incident. During interrogation, the Asian man said he stabbed his roommate in revenge after the latter and other roommates tried to evict him from the room. He denied intending to kill his roommate, and said that he used a knife for cutting vegetables to attack his roommate. ICA/Expat Media
