Dubai Police has renewed a call for motorists to conduct regular vehicle inspections following a truck accident in Jebel Ali that resulted in the death of a driver after his vehicle burst into flames and crashed. The incident occurred earlier this week when the man's truck caught fire on a two-lane road. This caused him to lose control of the vehicle and veer into the opposite lane, colliding head-on with another truck, said Major General Saif Muhair Al Mazrouei, Director of the General Department of Traffic at Dubai Police. The crash killed the driver whose vehicle initially caught fire, while the other driver sustained serious injuries and was immediately transported to the hospital for medical treatment. Dubai Police swiftly dispatched traffic accident investigators to the scene to determine the precise cause of the accident. Authorities also secured the area to prevent further traffic congestion and ensure emergency responders could operate without obstruction. Major General Al Mazrouei emphasized the importance of vehicle maintenance to prevent mechanical failures that could lead to fatal accidents. “Ensuring that vehicles meet safety standards is not just a recommendation—it is a necessity for public safety,” he said. He also warned against unauthorized vehicle modifications, explaining that unapproved alterations frequently contribute to vehicle breakdowns and fires. “Non-compliant modifications can lead to electrical faults and mechanical failures that significantly increase the risk of serious accidents,” he added. Dubai Police have ramped up road safety awareness campaigns, urging all drivers—especially those operating heavy vehicles—to conduct routine maintenance checks. Inspections will be intensified to enforce compliance with vehicle safety regulations. Authorities continue to investigate the exact cause of the accident and will take legal action if any violations of road safety regulations are discovered.
