Dubai is set to unveil what officials describe as the world’s first “Gold Street” by the fourth quarter of 2026, as part of efforts to strengthen its position as a global hub for gold and jewellery trade. According to Rashid Al Harmoodi, senior commercial director at Ithra Dubai, the project is designed to offer a unique visitor experience. “It will be a one-of-a-kind destination globally, where visitors will feel as though they are walking on gold,” he said. The Gold Street forms part of the wider Dubai Gold District, a purpose-built destination launched earlier this year to enhance Dubai’s standing in the international gold market. The district is expected to attract both tourists and investors, particularly those monitoring gold prices in Dubai and seeking high-quality jewellery. Construction is currently under way, with completion targeted for late 2026. Dubai, widely known as the “City of Gold”, continues to draw retail buyers and wholesale traders due to its transparent pricing and competitive gold rates. The Gold District will host a wide mix of businesses, including retail outlets, bullion traders, wholesalers and investment firms. More than 1,000 companies across sectors such as gold, lifestyle, perfumes and cosmetics are already operating within the area. Officials said the project is expected to further strengthen Dubai’s role as a leading destination for the global gold trade. ICA/Expat Media
